Format:
18 teams, each plays the others twice - home and away - for a total of 34 games each, over 34 game weeks.

Regional span:
Teams from the states of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Brandenburg, Berlin, Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia and Saxony.

Scoring points:
3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss.

Table order:
1. points won; 2. total goal difference; 3. total goals scored; 4. points in head-to-head matches; 5. goal difference in hth matches; 6. away goals in hth matches; 7. total away goals scored; 8. play-off.

Relegation to the league:
0-3 teams from 3. Liga

Qualification for Promotio Play-offs:
1 place: promoted to 3. Liga

Relegation from the league:
14-17 place: possible relegation to Oberliga *
18 place: relegated to Oberliga

if -1: no additional relegation from the group;

Promotion and relegation of II teams:

If any of them finishes on a promotion play-off spot without being eligible for promotion, then the next best team in the final table enters the Promotion Play-offs instead.
II teams are to be relegated regardless of their league position if their first team gets relegated to 3. Liga.
In such case and if the II team is above the relegation zone, the best placed team in the relegation zone keeps its place in Regionalliga instead.

3 teams contest 2 places in 3. Liga in a knockout format.
A draw determines 1 team to directly promote to 3. Liga, the remaining 2 teams enter the Final.

Final:
2 teams are drawn into 1 pair.
Winner is decided over two legs.
Hosting is determined by the draw.

Tie-breakers for the knockout matches over two legs:
1. aggregate score from the two legs, 2. away goals, 3. extra time, 4. penalties.

winner: promoted to 3. Liga
