The Chicago Cubs avoided a fifth straight loss in MLB, while the New York Yankees' winning streak was ended.
The Cubs came from 6-2 down to get past the Milwaukee Brewers 9-7 and back to winning ways on Tuesday.
The Yankees' streak was stopped at eight as the Chicago White Sox claimed a 4-1 victory.
The Miami Marlins shut out the Seattle Mariners 5-0, the Toronto Blue Jays' poor start to the season continued with an 8-7 loss to the Boston Red Sox and the Philadelphia Phillies beat the New York Mets 6-2.
Adam Duvall blasted a grand slam as the Cincinnati Reds crushed the Baltimore Orioles 9-3, the Tampa Bay Rays claimed a 5-1 win over the Detroit Tigers and the Washington Nationals edged the Atlanta Braves 3-1.
The Los Angeles Angels beat the Houston Astros 5-2, the Cleveland Indians thrashed the Minnesota Twins 11-4 and the San Francisco Giants edged the Kansas City Royals 2-1.
The St Louis Cardinals got past the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-1, the Oakland Athletics beat the Texas Rangers 4-2, the Colorado Rockies overcame the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-3 and the Arizona Diamondbacks crushed the San Diego Padres 11-2.
The last time Miguel Gonzalez faced the Yankees, he threw seven shutout innings. This time around, the White Sox right-hander fired 8.1 scoreless innings as Chicago ended the Yankees' eight-game winning streak. Gonzalez allowed just four hits and one walk.
Reds slugger Duvall blasted a gram slam against Orioles ace Kevin Gausman, who was tagged for eight runs in just 2.2 innings of work.
JAYS STILL BATTLING
The Blue Jays' slump continued as ace Marcus Stroman struggled in a home start against the Red Sox. The All-Star right-hander gave up six runs on 11 hits in just 4.2 innings. Stroman now owns a 4.05 ERA this season as Toronto fell to 2-11.
NATIONALS VISIT BRAVES
Joe Ross will make his first start of the season after beginning in the minors to limit the innings on his arm. He faces a tough assignment against Braves (6-7) ace Julio Teheran (1-0, 0.95 ERA), who has allowed three runs or fewer in seven starts against the Nationals (8-5).
